Charming, comfortable and friendly, Waupaca's lodging facilities offer a variety of visitor options. These include two hotel/conference centers and a 77-unit motel/conference center (all with indoor pools, business and family amenities), four bed and breakfast establishments, 8 campgrounds, a camp/retreat center and dozens of vacation rentals/cottages.

Dining

More than two dozen restaurants offer a wide variety of dining opportunities in a friendly atmosphere. Casual dress is accepted at all.

Biking

Here are some of the many things to see and do in the Waupaca area:

  1. Swimming--There are two swimming beaches in Waupaca. They are at South Park and at Hartman Creek State Park. At South Park, many young people learn how to swim during Red Cross swimming lessons. The beach area includes lots of sand for building sand castles.
  2. Nature Hikes--Walk the River Ridge Trail, Ice Age Trail, or trails at Hartman Creek State Park.
  3. New Skate Park--Bring your in-line skates, skateboard or BMX bike to our skate park, which features a welded steel quarter pipe, mini half-pipe and 10 obstacles. Obstacles include a launch ramp, slide rail, kink rail, fun box with hand rail, fly box with stairs and hand rail, trick pipe, spine ramp and three-sided concrete pyramid.
  4. Miniature Golf--Play at Tom Thumb, Pioneer Falls Adventure Golf or Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort.
  5. Canoe the Crystal River from Ding's Dock.
  6. Go Tubing--on the Crystal, Waupaca, or Little Wolf Rivers.
  7. Ski Shows--See a Chain Skiers water ski show.
  8. Water ski or ride an inner tube.
  9. Parks--Play in one of the city, county or state parks.
  10. Museums--Learn how people lived in Waupaca during Victorian times, and how Wisconsin took part in the world wars.
  11. Golf--Try one of 6 golf courses.
  12. Camp--Try one of 9 area campgrounds.
  13. Ride a paddle-wheel boat.
  14. Attend a concert in the park.
  15. Play tennis.
  16. Go out to eat. Waupaca has lots of ice cream, pizza and burger places.
  17. Ice Skate--Hockey, figure and speed skating are all taught here, outdoors and in.
  18. Go to a movie--at the Rosa Theater: four screens, with matinees during the summer.
  19. Read and use a computer--at the downtown library.
  20. Go ice fishing.
  21. Go sledding.
  22. Petting zoo--Pet the animals or have a party at J.R.'s Petting Zoo.
  23. Snowmobile.
  24. Ride in an airplane--at the local airport.
  25. Cross-country ski.
  26. Hunt and fish.
  27. Go shopping.
  28. Take a class about plants and animals--at Hartman Creek State Park. 
  29. Have an ice cream cone at Dairy Queen, Scooper's, Country Greetings or Clear Water Harbor.
  30. Learn to curl--a team game, played on ice, that's sort of a cross between shuffleboard and bowling.
